Al Larsen Real Moonlight Tour
Brief Bio
Empty parking lots at midnight, jumping fences to steal apples,
attempting intimacy against the odds: these are the settings of Al
Larsen's songs. Simple stuff, basic stuff, but approached with reverence
- that dumb parking lot could be the scene of a reckoning, a temptation, a turning point.
Al's personal performances have been causing a stir since he stumbled
onto the scene in 1987. He has recorded and performed with Some Velvet
Sidewalk, The Pastels, Melting Igloo, Evil Tambourines and the Polar
Bears and his songs have been issued on Matador, K, Kill Rock Stars and
Sub Pop.
Al has played music festivals, sidewalks, rooftops, keggers, shindigs,
coffeeshops, colleges, beer halls, theaters, rec rooms, art galleries,
basements, lofts and one parade. His music is featured in the films
Jackass, Hype! and Songs for Cassavettes. He's been on bills with Beck,
Sebadoh, Fugazi, Modest Mouse, the Melvins, Dinosaur Jr., Scream,
Screaming Trees, Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, the Microphones, Jad Fair, JFA
and Cornershop.
Right now, Al Larsen is performing his songs solo, all alone, without a
band at all. Yes, it's all stripped down now, simple and basic, nothing
more than a voice and a thread of music in an empty parking lot at
midnight. Reckoning? Temptation? Turning point?
